1 CUP GRANULATED SUGAR

2 TEASPOONS CORNSTARCH

1 TEASPOON LEMON JUICE

 AND 11/2 TEASPOONS OF VANILLA

BEAT EGG WHITES UNTIL FLUFFY.

(EGG WHITES BEAT TO A GREATER VOLUME

IF BROUGHT TO ROOM TEMPERATURE

BEFORE BEATING)

ADD SUGAR - 1 TABLESPOON - AT A TIME

AS YOU CONTINUE BEATING THE EGG WHITES

(ADDING SUGAR BY TABLESPOONS

 WILL ENSURE THAT YOUR SUGAR

 IS PROPERLY MIXED INTO YOUR EGG WHITES

 AND YOU WILL NOT HAVE A GRAINY MERINGUE.)

WHEN YOU HAVE ADDED ALL YOUR SUGAR

ADD YOUR 2 TEASPOONS OF CORNSTARCH

AND 1 TEASPOON OF LEMON JUICE

AND 1 AND 1/2  TEASPOONS OF VANILLA .

THESE ( CORNSTARCH AND LEMON JUICE)

WILL HELP TO STABILIZE YOUR MERINGUE.

CONTINUE TO BEAT!

LINE A BAKING SHEET WITH PARCHMENT PAPER.

YOU MAY CONTINUE TO BEAT YOUR MERINGUE

UNTIL STIFF PEAKS FORM. 

YOU MAY PUT A LITTLE DAB OF MERINGUE

ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE PAPER CORNERS

 IF YOU FIND YOUR PARCHMENT PAPER SLIPPING!

THEN PIPE YOUR MERINGUE WITH A PIPING BAG

INTO THE FORM OF LETTERS.

YOU SHOULD GET AT LEAST

10 OR MORE INITIALS FROM THIS RECIPE!

YOU MAY PIPE INDIVIDUAL INITIALS

FOR PARTY GUESTS

 OR ALL THE INITIALS

IN THE NAME OF THE PARTY "STAR"!

 IF YOU PREFER YOU MAY USE FOOD COLOURING

TO TINT YOUR MERINGUE! YOU LEAVE YOUR

MERINGUES IN A 225 DEGREES  FAHRENHEIT

OVEN(VERY LOW HEAT) FOR 1 1/2 HOURS.

YOUR MERINGUES WILL THEN BE FIRM

 BUT DELICIOUSLY GOOEY INSIDE!

REMOVE THE PARCHMENT

 FROM THE MERINGUES CAREFULLY!

THEN ENJOY YOUR PERSONALIZED

 EDIBLE PLACE CARD INITIALS OR NAMES!!!

Even so, I still want to make my kids' birthday parties ones that they will never forget. I just have to get a bit creative and spend some time. Time is money — so if you don't have the money, you have to spend the time. I have a few suggestions to help plan an unforgettable birthday on a budget. First of all, choose a theme. My kids will pick a theme based on their toys. For instance, my son loves Nemo and has a few Nemo figurines and stuffed toys. For his last birthday party, I used his toys to decorate instead of buying decorations that will only get used once. You can also give the small figurine-type toys a good wash and then use them on the birthday cake. Second, for favor bags, I just use scraps of fabric and sew up the sides to make little bags. With a permanent marker or fabric paint, I write a child's name on each bag. Instead of party games, I like to do a craft, and that is the "goody" that you can put in the goody bag. For instance, for my son's Nemo party, I got some fish sun catchers for the kids to paint. They were cheap and the kids loved doing it. You can even do something with construction paper and crayons, depending on the age of the children. Throw in a package of gummies (they make almost every kind) that match the party theme and you have a goody bag that every kid will love.
