WELCOME TO DUNCAN'S NEST!
DUNCAN IS A SHY LITTLE DUCK
WHO DREAMS ABOUT
"THE BEST NEST!"
Duncan was not a
very big duck but he
was big enough to
move out of Mother
Duck's nest. He was
old enough to build
his own nest!
All of Duncan's
friends were old
enough to build their
own nests,too.
Duncan's friends
travelled far away to
get big twigs and
special grasses for
their nests.
Their nests were
strong and always
looked lovely even
during the dull and
gray days of winter.
Duncan knew that
his nest wasn't as
strong or lovely as
theirs and Duncan
knew why it wasn't as
strong or lovely as
the other nests. He
didn't like to tell
anyone but really
Duncan didn't like to
travel far away from
Mother Duck.
He couldn't find in
the nearby forest all
the fancy twigs that
the other ducks used
in their nests.
"Oh,well,said the
little duck, I'll just
have to do with the
worst nest ever!"
Duncan stared up at
the starry sky as he
started to fall asleep
and wished upon the
brightest star that he
could build
a better nest!

The next morning
Duncan awoke to
find the sun shining
brightly through the
tall trees.The
sunshine made
Duncan feel happy.
Duncan forgot about
his problems
with his nest.
" I guess everyone
in the world
is happy today,"
thought Duncan.
But then Duncan
heard a strange
sound. It wasn't a
happy sound. It was
the sound of a
crying little boy!
"Why are you crying,
little boy?"
asked Duncan.
"I can't find the road
back to my mother,"
cried the little boy.
Duncan knew how
sad he would feel if
he couldn't find
Mother Duck.
Duncan didn't like to
travel far from home
but he knew that he
had to help the little
boy find his mother!
So,Duncan and the
little boy walked miles
and miles through
the deep forest.
Then as they made a
turn in the winding
path,the little boy
spotted his mother
just ahead on the
grassy trail.The little
boy's mother
didn't look like
Mother Duck!
Still Duncan
thought that she had
kind eyes which
twinkled in the same
way as Mother
Duck's eyes.
"I am very happy
that you helped my
little boy,said the
mother. We live in a
magical kingdom far
beyond the sun and
stars.It is time now
for us to return
to our magical home."
As the little boy and
his mother turned to
leave, the mother
whispered softly
to Duncan.
"Did you ever wish
upon a star,
Duncan?" the lady
asked in a soft and
gentle voice.
Of course,Duncan
remembered wishing
on many stars
for a new nest!
"Always be as loving
and kind,Duncan, as
you were today and
all your wishes will
come through!"
said the little
boy's mother.
Then it was time for
Duncan to start
his long trip home.
He was tired
but he felt happy
that he had been able
to help the little boy.
Duncan couldn't wait
to reach his nest to
go to sleep. When
Duncan was nearly
home he saw bright
lights coming from
the grassy spot that
was Duncan's nest.
As Duncan got
closer to his home he
could see that
his old nest
was gone!
In its place was a
beautiful shiny nest.
It was made from
strings of silver
from the stars
and strands of gold
from the sun.
On the front of the
nest was a long
blue and white
ribbon made
from little fluffy
balls of marshmallow
clouds and little dots
of blue sky.
Duncan read the
shining words on the
magical ribbon!
"To Duncan, From
the magical kingdom!
Love and kindness
make wishes
come true!"
So tired little Duncan
fell asleep among
the tiny 
twinkling stars.
He dreamed of
starry nights

and blue skies and
colourful rainbows
and sunny days
But most of all he
dreamed about
his new nest.
Now Duncan knew
that he had the
