Lucky was a tiny leprechaun who lived with his family in the magical, green countryside of Ireland. On thisSt. Patrick's holiday, however,Lucky was having a very bad day!He had built the BIGGEST tower EVER but his sister had knocked it over. His favourite green bicycle had broken and he had spilled juice all over his very best book.
Poor Lucky! He was having a very, very bad day!Suddenly, one good thing happened in Lucky's day. The most beautiful rainbow that Lucky had ever seen appeared just outside his window!
Since Lucky was a leprechaun, he knew that there was always a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Some of the older leprechauns even guarded the pot of gold!On many "rainbow" days Lucky had tried to follow the rainbow and find the pot of gold! Lucky, however, had still not foundeven ONE piece of gold!Of course,Lucky didn't go too far from home to look for the gold.Hismother had told him to stay in his garden and Lucky ALWAYS did whathis mother told him!Today, he looked for the pot of gold behind the big tall tree.
He quietly looked behind the little blue shed.He even looked behind his big, furry cat as she was sleeping in the sun!But there wasn't a pot of gold anywhere!
Suddenly Lucky heard his mother calling to him from their tiny flower garden!Lucky ran into the garden!
His father and his sisters were also there at the family picnic table!"We knew that you were having a very bad day,Lucky," said his father, "so we decided to have a party just for you!"Lucky couldn't believewhat he was seeing. There was his favouritechocolate cake withrainbow-colored frosting. There were bowls and bowls of rainbow ice cream. But best of all, beside Lucky's plate there was a giant pile of gold coins.Lucky had found the pot of goldafter all!!Lucky picked up one of the coins. He could see a little bit of chocolate peeking through the golden paper. These coins were chocolate coins!Lucky's Favourite!Lucky ate chocolate until the most beautiful rainbow went to sleep.
It was now also Lucky's bedtime! Lucky lay in his tiny bed and began to think about his day, his partyand his gold."Maybe, you don't always have to travel far to find gold!"thought Lucky. And with that comforting thought, Lucky drifted off to sleep and to dream about another happy "rainbow" day.
